On April 17th, 2007 Jim Alexander passed away at the age of 42.
Jim was a long time member of the leather and bear community in Edmonton
Alberta, Canada. Jim was executive of Northern Chaps, Edmonton’s
Leather/Levi Club in 1991 and 1992. In 1993 Jim was a founding member of the
bear community with Michael Kurylo through the Beast BBS which Michael ran
from 1993 to 1998. He was also a founding member of the Festival City Bears
founded in 2003 and Edmonton Men In Leather Founded in 2006.
Jim was involved with the early years of IBR
(International Bear Rendezvous) in San Francisco doing video documentaries
for the event for several years and since then, Jim spent much of his years
traveling to the states and other points in Canada promoting the Edmonton
bear and leather communities. Jim constantly volunteered his time and money
for the Pride Centre in Edmonton to help make the center a better place to
be in, from the installation of their computers and network to promoting the
usable space for those who needed a meeting space for their group. This is
only the tip of the iceberg about this man we called Jim. Through all of
these years, Jim touched many people with his big heart and his big smile.
He will be missed by many.
I will miss him the most. He was my friend, my pal, my
brother!
